The Northwestern Pacific Railroad Historical Society (NWPRRHS) was founded over thirty years ago. It is dedicated to preserving the rich and colorful heritage of Redwood Empire railroading. We accomplish this through acquisition, preservation and display efforts as well as through gathering oral histories of people who have contributed to our regional history.

For detailed information about the Society and how to join, please click on About Us.

Our long-established William R. Hogarty Library has a priceless collection of photos, maps, drawings and other related memorabilia, associated with the NWP RR. These materials are now in our new Archive space. For more information about the collections in our archival library and how to get there, please click on Library.

The NWPRRHS conducts quarterly railroad history programs in Marin and Sonoma counties. Please click on the Events page for dates and location information.

The NWPRRHS is continuing to restore vintage railroad rolling stock. We started with NWP Caboose #13, now on display and in service at Roots of Motive Power in Willits. Our P&SR Caboose #1 project is finished. We have taken on three new project cars, they are CP Coach #29 (NWP #123) and SF&NP Baggage #5 (NWP #605) and just acquired, Petaluma and Santa Rosa Boxcar # 2, that road's first boxcar. We work every other Saturday on the restoration of these wonderful cars, at the corner of Washington and Baylis in Petaluma. You are invited to join us.
